    Save the dates

We’re delighted to announce that there are two brilliant Artsreach events coming to Cranborne this autumn.

Firstly, on Saturday 4th October we’ll be welcoming Michel, Pfeiffer & Kulesh. This international close-harmony folk trio will be performing Flowers, their beautiful songs with spell-binding multi-lingual lyrics. It’s a unique cross-cultural, multi-instrumental collaboration that turns traditional folk songs into something fresh and powerful.

Secondly, if you ever wondered what happened in Dickens’ A Christmas Carol after the ghosts had scarpered and Tiny Tim grew up, then you can find out on Friday 5th December. The Lonely Clown Club will be coming to Cranborne with their Ha! BUMHUG Christmas show for all the family. It’s a joyfully interactive, festive and funny reworking of a classic tale.

    More details to follow.

    Latest Village Hall news

The Belters really rocked the hall last month and a great time was had by all. This was our first big fundraiser since opening and we raised nearly £700 for village hall funds. This couldn’t have been achieved without the amazing help and support of so many people, but in particular Wendy & H of Chase Bars who gave their services free of charge. Thanks also to Remedy Oak Brewing Co who donated a cask of their fabulous ‘Gold’.

The hall is now becoming a real community hub, with Craft Café, badminton, pilates, yoga, History Hub and History Society all thriving. And it was really lovely to see lots of people enjoying coffee, cake and a chat and swapping excess produce at our first Chaturdays recently.

Our fundraising efforts have to continue to ensure the financial security of the hall. We need to raise around £5000 a year on top of hall hirings to cover overheads, repairs, renovations, energy efficiencies, and for purchasing new sports and cinema equipment. So far we have raised just over £2000, from the Boveridge College raffle, our opening party, the March quiz and the Belters. We have lots of plans for future fundraisers, including a Harvest Supper and a Christmas party, but our next big one is just around the corner….the Great Big Cranborne Quiz on September 13th. Watch this space!
